Three Bass Viols in Concert
This concert highlights the rarely heard repertoire of stunning English viol music from the last years of Elizabeth I’s reign, around 1600, juxtaposed with the equally sumptuous viol music of the French court composer Marais, from a century later.
Music for one, two and three viols, with the addition of some English songs from Robert will amaze the audience with their beauty. The remainder of the programme will feature a duo by the Dutch virtuoso violist, Schenk, and the German, Schwartzkopff, who worked at the court in Stuttgart. In Ponsonby Baptist Church, Rachael will play a solo on the renowned eighteenth-century Avery organ. This will be a night to remember.
